 Way to go! |
Each year the Orange Empire CPCU Chapter donates a $3,000 scholarship to the Center for Insurance Studies at California State Fullerton University. Half of the money is from our chapter with a matching amount from the Loman Foundation. Scholarships are split between the fall and spring semesters. Each semester students in the sophomore and junior level Business Writing classes have the opportunity to take part in our Business Writing Contest.
An insurance related case study written by Leah Young, CPCU, is presented to each of the classes. The students are asked to write a letter to either the Insured, agent or insurance company depending on the case study. After the professors screen the letters, they send what they consider their best ones to us. We then pick the first, second and third place winners based on what was asked for in the letter. Winners are awarded Titan Bookstore credits from our scholarship money. Each semester the Center for Insurance Studies picks an outstanding student, who is also awarded part of our scholarship money. Spring semester scholarships were presented by Orange Empire CPCU Chapter President Brandt Minnich, May 2, 2008 at the Center for Insurance Studies Awards ceremony.
Congratulations go to the following recipients:
